New Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela will attempt to stop the rot when his side takes on TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Kick-off is at 7.30pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)
Malesela returned to Thwihli Thwahla last month after just eight games in charge of DStv Premiership rivals Royal AM and succeeds Romain Folz, who resigned in the wake of the 1-1 draw with Swallows.
'Dance' took over the reins last season, with Gallants in a similar predicament and managed to turn their fortunes around, eventually guiding them to the Nedbank Cup final.
The Limpopo outfit are rooted to the foot of the table after eight matches, having failed to pick up a single win, although they have only lost twice, drawing on the other six occasions.
Malesela revealed there was a real buzz in training this week, admitting the familiarity with the players was one of the key factors in his decision to go back.
"One of the biggest reasons I went back is that the majority of the players I had last season are still there," he said in a radio interview.
"I need to look after this brand [Dan Malesela] to say where can it work and from the [training] session we had today, you could tell the excitement, you could tell the interest of the players."
The 10th-placed Rockets have struggled of late after making an impressive start to proceedings when they went unbeaten in their opening five league encounters.
Galaxy arrested a two-match losing streak with a goalless draw against surprise package Richards Bay last time out, but it still left them without a win in five outings.
Sead Ramovic's team are the lowest scorers in the top flight with just three goals, but the German tactician is convinced they will come good sooner rather than later.
"We have two weeks and we will work on it then we have two games at home and now we have to score there ... and we will try out best," Ramovic said after the stalemate in Durban.
"We have to be calm, stay focused and I'm absolutely sure and believe in my team that the goals will come soon."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
TS Galaxy
Djakaridja Traore: The 24-year-old Ivorian forward, who joined Galaxy from Czech side SK Rakovnik in August, finally made his debut against the Natal Rich Boyz and there would be no better time to get off the mark when struggling Gallants come to town. Traore will be looking to learn from the experienced duo of Bernard Parker and Sibusiso Vilakazi while he settles in his new surroundings.
Xola Mlambo: The 31-year-old midfielder has quickly established himself in the team following his arrival from AmaZulu during the off-season, featuring in seven of the Rockets' eight league games. He is currently keeping Orebotse Mongae on the bench, with the January signing having impressed during the second half of last season.
Marumo Gallants
Cheick Soumaro: The 32-year-old Ivorian winger will be looking to impress Malesela, having only arrived at the club a few days before his head coach. Soumaro made his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Chippa United and is hoping to earn his second start against Galaxy.
Sibusiso Khumalo: The departure of Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo to Orlando Pirates could open the door for Khumalo in midfield. The 27-year-old featured 29 times in the league last term, but has been limited to just five appearances in the new campaign and didn't even make the bench for the most recent games against Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa.
