Veterans lead the charge in Galaxy-Polokwane showdown

With the likes of Dzenan Zajmovic and Puleng Marema shining for TS Galaxy and Polokwane City, the two sides are now set for a mouth-watering encounter in the Betway Premiership at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening.
CURRENT FORM
With Galaxy set to feature in their third consecutive home tie in all competitions, the Rockets could make it three wins on the spin this week after recording a 2-0 win against Cape Town City last time out.
Galaxy are currently unbeaten in their last nine league matches, however, the Mpumalanga outfit bagged just four wins during this period.
As it stands, the Rockets occupy 10th spot on the log, with 18 points to their name after 14 matches played.
Much like Galaxy, Polokwane City head into their next league assignment with much confidence after picking up a 1-0 win against Chippa United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium three days ago.
Rise and Shine are unbeaten in their last seven Betway Premiership encounters and have jotted down four wins since their 1-0 loss to Cape Town City on the 27 November 2024.
Their positive run of form has propelled Polokwane City to third on the table, after amassing 28 points from 15 matches played.

WHAT WAS SAID
Formerly known as Puleng Tlolane, Marema celebrated a special milestone in his most recent league outing, where he made his 300th appearance for Polokwane City.
Reflecting on his career, Marema was full of praise for the support he received throughout his 13-year spell with Rise and Shine.
“It was a special day for me, my team and my family. It’s been a great journey. I think I have had a great career,” said Marema. “So for me to be here for so many years and achieve massive milestones, I can only be proud of myself.
“To all the coaches that I have worked with, I thank them for being part of my journey, the team, the chairman [Johnny Mogaladi] and everyone in the team. I am just happy.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
TS Galaxy: Dzenan Zajmovic – The Bosnian has grown from strength to strength in the PSL and was a star performer for the Rockets against City on Sunday. As a goal threat on the ball at all times, Rise and Shine will have to be wary of the 30-year-old’s movement around the 18-yard-area.
Polokwane City: Puleng Marema – After reaching a special milestone with Polokwane City, Marema will no doubt be eager to showcase his worth to the club once again. Marema possesses the ability to unlock defences, which will come in handy against a largely aggressive Galaxy backline.
