By his own admission Zambian forward Justin Shonga has battled in the recent past, so to score inside three minutes of his Sekhukhune United debut was a major boost for the striker.

Shonga got the ball rolling in Sekhukhune’s 4-0 demolition of Baroka FC in the DStv Premiership on Sunday, turning in Yusuf Maart’s driven, low cross from just a few yards for his first goal since November 2020.
That was in the colours of TTM, and since then the former Orlando Prates striker has also played for Cape Town City and Egyptian side Ismaily without success.
He will hope to change his career path again after his arrival in January at Sekhukhune.
“It’s a nice feeling and a good start for me, because football-wise I have been struggling to settle at teams,” Shonga says.
“I just want to keep the momentum, because when you are playing for a new club, you need to adapt to the way they play and work extra hard to get into the starting XI.
“I am going to push harder, I am happy with the start, but I must keep going.”
