Polokwane City and TS Galaxy played to a goalless stalemate in their Betway Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.
The result saw Rise and Shine’s winless run across all competitions extended to 10 matches across all competitions, leaving them in 10th place on the log.
The Rockets, meanwhile, are now winless in six matches across all competitions, and are placed 12th on the log.
Polokwane tried to get off to a flying start, with numerous missed shots in the opening minutes from the likes of Msindisi Khosa, Manuel Kambala, Surprise Manthosi and Giovanni Philander.
Galaxy then offered up a first sign of their potency with a shot from Mlungisi Mbunjana which stung the palms of Polokwane goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke in the 22nd minute.
Polokwane suffered an early injury blow when Bonginkosi Dlamini was replaced by Siyabonga Mashinini just past the half-hour mark, and the hosts soon needed Masuluke to make another save – this time to deny Anslin Williams.
The final chance of the first half saw Galaxy’s Victor Letsoalo drive an effort wide from a presentable opportunity in the 45th minute, leaving the game goalless at the interval.
The first chance after the restart went the way of Rise and Shine, with Manthosi heading just over the target after meeting Philander’s cross in the 56th minute.
Galaxy threatened again in the 75th minute when Letsoalo sent a shot on target, but Masuluke was well placed to make the save.
Ultimately, the match fizzled out to a stalemate – a result which was little help to either club in their quest to climb the league standings.
The teams are scheduled to return to Betway Premiership action in late November, with Polokwane away to Durban City, and Galaxy visiting Stellenbosch FC.
