The Guinean champions' ambitions of reaching the knockout phase diminished after they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to Algerian side ES Setif in their last Group B game in Algiers on 18 March.

Therefore, Horoya are currently placed fourth on the group standings and they will be looking to end their unsuccessful group stage campaign with a win over AmaZulu.

Lamine N'Diaye, the Horoya head coach, was left disappointed with his charges' lack of concentration and poor defending following their narrow defeat to Setif.

“By repeating the same blunders, we paid the price. Maybe it's the lack of talent. In the closing stages, you have to be strong in defence," N'Diaye said in the post-match conference.

"We conceded two goals from set-pieces. A corner kick and a free-kick, we were badly positioned to defend and yet these are things that we work on and once on the ground they (the players) forget the essentials.

"The club has been playing in African competitions for ten years, it's not a problem of experience, it's simply a problem of talent and concentration."

Meanwhile, AmaZulu also saw their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals end when they lost 2-0 to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in their last Group B match in Durban on 18 March.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants are placed third on the group standings and they will be determined to end their debut campaign in the group stage with a win in Conakry, Guinea.

Usuthu have a new coach in Brandon Truter, who has taken over on an interim basis following Benni McCarthy's departure. Truter is keen to ensure that AmaZulu end the season on a high note.

“Yes, the results this year have not been coming and that’s the only thing I’m hoping to change at the moment,” Truter said.

“I’m coming in with seven games left [in the DStv Premiership] as well, so I’m not stupid and won't disrespect the technical team, the people who are here. We have to look at it to see how we can turn it around.

“We have a very ambitious president and for the team to end it [the season] on a high note, we have to turn it around.”

In head-to-head stats, Horoya and AmaZulu have met once in a competitive match.

AmaZulu claimed a 1-0 win over Horoya in a Group B match that was played in Durban on 18 February.
