BetKing Ethiopia Premier League runners up Bahir Dar City enhanced their CAF credentials when they won the first leg of their second-round tie against Tunisian side, Club Africain.

The "Tana Waves" beat the north Africans 2-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup encounter played at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.

The hero of the match was Bahir Dar City striker Habtamu Tadesse, who netted both goals.

Bahir Dar City enjoyed the majority of the possession against one of the strongest sides on the continent.

However, it was not all smooth sailing for Bahir Dar as Club Africain peppered them with long balls, but their strikers were unable to find the net.

The Tana Waves were unable to make any breakthroughs in the first half, but they eventually got their opening goal in additional time at the end of the first half.

Left-back Fraol Mengistu provided an assist to Tadesse who, although he had his back to the goal, was able to slot past the Africain keeper.

In the second half, Bahirdar City had their opponents under pressure, but they couldn't take advantage.

Finally, Tadesse got on the end of some brilliant counter-attacking football by Bahir Dar and netted the Tana Waves' second goal from outside the box in the 90th minute.

The second leg between the two teams will be played on 1 October in Tunisia.
