It looks like Orlando Pirates have found their groove in the DStv Diski Challenge.
Following a slow start to the season under new coach Joseph Makhanya, the Buccaneers seem to have turned the corner.
On Sunday Pirates extended their winning streak to six matches in a row with a scrappy 1-0 win over TS Galaxy at Rand Stadium.
The two sides played to a goalless draw in the first half. Pirates got the only goal towards the end of the match from a spot kick which was converted by Cassius Spandiel.
The three points see Pirates maintaining the second spot in the Diski Challenge table with 27 points from 13 matches.
They are two points behind log leaders Cape Town City FC who scored late in the 86th minute to beat Richards Bay 1-0 on the same day in Cape Town.
KAIZER CHIEFS 1-1 AMAZULU
Kaizer Chiefs came from behind to snatch a point against AmaZulu on Saturday at FNB Stadium. Usuthu took a lead in just under five minutes of the match through Siphamandla Zikhali.
Chiefs tried to fight back but could not get a goal in the first half as Usuthu went to the break with a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Mfundo Vilakazi scored an equalizer for Chiefs in the 63rd minute of the match. This was Chiefs' second match they dropped points as they lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch FC last weekend.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS 3-1 MARUMO GALLANTS
Sundowns continued with their dominance of Gallants beating them for the third time in four meetings. The Young Brazilians have been struggling to maintain consistency this season. Coach Surprise Moriri would be hoping that this result gives them a much-needed boost ahead of next weekend's match where they will face Orlando Pirates in what could be the fixture of the weekend.
GOLDEN ARROWS 3-1 SWALLOWS FC
Arrows extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a resounding 3-1 win over Swallows FC. Samkelo Mzolo scored an impressive hat-trick to earn his side maximum points while Swallows consolation goal was scored by Thulani Ngonyama.
CHIPPA UNITED 0-2 SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
The Chilli Boys seem to be struggling to recover from the departure of coach Daine Klate. After finishing in position four last season, they have been struggling to recapture the same performance this time around. The defeat saw them drop to the bottom of the log with nine points from 13 games.
Sozabile Dlamini and Simphiwe Mabena scored the goals for Babina Noko.
STELLENBOSCH FC 1-1 MARITZBURG UNITED
The League defending champions salvaged a point in the dying stage of the match as they got an equaliser in the 95th minute. Asanda Buthelezi had scored first for the team of Choice from a penalty spot.
SUPERSPORT 1-1 ROYAL AM
SuperSport United who were the runners-up last season were held to a 1-1 draw by Royal AM on Sunday. Matsatsantsa have done well for themselves as they are within the top four so far this season. This is despite them losing some key players who were promoted to the first team.
