Kaizer Chiefs reserve team head coach Vela Khumalo has warned his charges not to get carried away by their promising recent results.

Amakhosi have been struggling to get consistent results in the DStv Diski Challenge since the beginning of the season.

However, their last two resounding victories over Golden Arrows, home and away gives them a significant boost, but coach Khumalo insists they are not there yet. They should not think they have arrived.

Khumalo stated: “It is a work in progress. If you look at the players we lost to the first team [Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala], those were our goal scorers.

“We are still trying to get the rhythm up there. If you look at our games, we always dominated the buildup but when we get to the final third, we do not convert our chances. We cannot get excited now and think we are there or we have arrived. We cannot be carried away, we are still far. This is a development. At the moment, our team is very slim but with time we will get better.”

Last weekend, Chiefs did not play their league match against Maritzburg United as it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Dobsonville Stadium.

This weekend they will return to action with a crunch encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Diski Festival at Wits Stadium on Sunday.

Kick-Off is at 12h30.

Chiefs will be hoping to continue their dominance over Sundowns as they head to this match, boasting an impressive record of four wins and one defeat in their last five matches.
