Out of all the Limpopo teams that have played in the DStv Diski Challenge, none of them have ever went toe-to-toe with contenders for the title.

From the likes of Black Leopards, Baroka FC, Marumo Gallants, Polokwane City, Sekhukhune United and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, they always find themselves at the bottom half of the log.

However, this time, Sekhukhune mentor Paulos Masehe has solemnly promised that they are on a mission of changing that narrative regarding Limpopo teams.

Masehe has vowed that he will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Babina Noko becomes the first team to clinch the DStv Diski Challenge title this season.

Sekhukhune had an impressive starts start to the 2023-24 season. After four matches, they are among the joint leaders with 10 points. They are yet to lose a game.

Masehe is new at the club and coaching in the Diski Challenge for the first time. He said one of the things he did was to tell the youngsters that they have to win the league if they want to see themselves being promoted to the club’s first team.

He explained: “Getting good results is the only way these players will be noticed. As much as we are developing them, the winning mentality must be instilled at this level.

“Look at teams like SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC, they won the trophy and a lot of their players were rewarded. So, I told my players that as much as this is development a winning mentality is very important.”

Masehe added that they are in to win it this season, there's no turning back.

“I do not want to lie and say we want to finish in a respectable position. I want us to go all the way and win the title, that would benefit these players. It will change their lives. From the coaching side we will also do our best in ensuring we develop them, we get the fundermentals right.”

Babina Noko will this weekend continue with their journey with a home match against Richards Bay FC at Isak Steyl Stadium [10:00am}.

A victory will see them keeping up with the front runners at the top of the table.
