The DStv Diski challenge title will be decided on the final day, next weekend.

This comes after Stellenbosch FC and SuperSport United registered an impressive victory in their penultimate matches at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

Stellenbosch thumped Maritzburg United 4-2 in the first match of the day; goals from Roy-Keane Avontuur, Lance Weaver and Oshwin Andries, as well as an own goal from Phiwayinkosi Zuma saw them getting maximum points. Asanda Buthelezi scored for the home team, while the other goal was an own goal by Kyle Jurgens.

The result eliminated Orlando Pirates from contention as Stellies reached a tally of 60 points, which Pirates will not be able to amass no matter what happens in their remaining two matches.

In the second match, which was highly contested, SuperSport thumped two-times Diski champions Golden Arrows 4-1.

Sbiusiso Maziko scored a brace to take his tally to 13 goals this season and the other two goals were scored by Tendamudzimu Matodzi and Nkosana Maseko.

Samkelo Mzolo scored the consolation goal for Arrows.

Stellenbosch remain at the top of the standings with 61 points from 29 matches. They have achieved their target of 60 points. Now they are on the verge of winning the title for the first time in the club's history.

SuperSport are second with 59 points, two behind the leaders. Next weekend a draw will be enough for Stellenbosch in their match against TS Galaxy to clinch the title as they are boasting a positive goal difference of +37 while Arrows have +17.

Pirates, who were once favourites to win the league title, remain third on the log with 54 points, and they will face Baroka FC on Sunday at Makhulong Stadium.

In other results, Marumo Gallants played to a 2-2 draw against Cape Town City FC and Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Royal AM.

Kaizer Chiefs defeated Sekhukhune United 2-1.
