This year’s edition will take place at the Orlando East Grounds for the round robin phase, with the semifinals and finals to be contested at the Moletsane Sports Complex in Moletsane.
Five teams qualified for the tournament through winning regional eKasi playoff tournaments around Gauteng, while the other three teams were voted to partake in the tournament by Diski fans from all around the townships in the province.
The previous tournaments showcased lots of skill, flair and flamboyance and featured eKasi Diski crowd pullers such as Xolani “Blackberry” Nkala, Tshepo “Skhwama” Matete, Tshepo “Jomo” Matsimela, Thabo “Wacko Jacko” Mphuti and Khethokwakhe “Bereza” Masuku just to name a few.
Some of these players were able to secure professional contracts with teams in the DStv Premiership and ABC Motsepe League after impressive performances.
The 11am kick-off on Thursday sees crowd favourite AT Mambas take on Tricky Boys, followed by Major1 up against Shaka United at 1pm.
Newcastle Young Chiefs square off against Aston Villa at 3pm.
All the games will be live on SuperSport Channels 202 and 209.
