Vaal Monate sink Ambassadors in five-goal thriller

Vaal Monate edged out Ambassadors 3-2 in a tightly contested DStv Ekasi Champ Of Champs plate final at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

The final had to be postponed from last Sunday, after there were protests outside the Dobsonville Stadium forcing the games to move to Orlando.

Ambassadors opened the scoring through Lorenzo Eckersley in the 29th minute and Jabulani Molambo equalized four minutes later for Vaal four minutes sending the teams level pegging to the break.

In the second half the teams came back firing in all cylinders and it was Ambassadors that reclaimed their lead through Tshepo Mashego in the 58th minute but their joy was short-lived Michael Moloi brought Vaal back into the match with a sublime finish.

Action swayed from one end to the other as both teams looked for the winner and Siyabulela Mosia found the big money goal in the 65th minute to clinch the plate final for Vaal who pocketed R75 000 for their efforts.
