Day four of the DStv eKasi Champion of Champs, at the KwaMahlobo sports grounds in Meadowlands Soweto, saw the Soweto derby of Kasi football as Soweto Super United and Black Poison faced each other for bragging rights.

Poison had Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena on the bench, and he wasn’t impressed with some of the chances his players missed.

Both teams could still qualify for the cup semifinals from the group stages. Swidi Wodwa had already qualified for the cup's last four to be played the coming weekend at the Moletsane sports complex. A win for either team would guarantee them a spot.

SSU secured the services of Jomo Matsimela, who previously played in the same tournament last year for La Masia. A crowd favourite, he got the fans going whenever the ball was at his feet. It was a game of two halves as both teams battled it out. The lunchtime kick-off produced a 2-2 draw.

United looked set for a semifinal berth as they had four points from their three games, having won one game, lost one and drawn the other. Meanwhile, Black Poison lost their opening encounter on the first day, and managed two draws.

In a game played earlier, Covid 19 FC secured their cup semifinal spot as they took on Ramatlaohle. Eddy Sikhalane, the exciting prospect from Covid 19, also played in this tournament last year for Beke le Beke, and the youngster was showing off the experience he gained in last year's competition.

At the end of 90 minutes, Covid 19 FC played to a 1-1 draw with Ramatlaohle, dropping to the plate semis on Saturday.

In the final game of the day, already qualified Swidi Wodwa were up against Phaphama FC. It was goalless at halftime, but two quick goals in the second half by the side from Mpumalanga saw them leap above SSU and move into a cup semifinal spot, with United dropping to the plate semifinals. The game ended with Phapahama winning 2-0.

The semifinals now move to the Moletsane Sports Complex, where you can catch them live on SuperSport channel 202/209 this coming weekend.
