Orlando Pirates were forced to share the spoils with Cape Town Spurs with a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Bucs were looking for all three points to set the tone for the upcoming Soweto Derby on the weekend.

As for Spurs, their fight against relegation continues and they will be happy with grabbing a point away against their fifth-placed opposition.

The game was physical and high tempo from the very beginning, with Orlando Pirates having more chances and possession.

The Sea Robbers scored early in the 12th minute through Relebohile Mofokeng, whose curling shot made it into the bottom corner of the net.

Cape Town Spurs' Chumani Butsaka would take a shot on goal four minutes later from distance and come close, hitting the upright.

It was a fiercely contested first half, however, Pirates dominated in terms of possession and shots on goal. The home team went into the break with the lead.

The second half was similar, as the Urban Warriors did their best to fight off their opponents.

The attempts kept coming from the Soweto team, but they could not find the breakthrough. The away team came alive in the final stages of the match and started to create their own fair set of chances.

In the 76th minute, Gabriel Kamagi equalised for Spurs with his effort, making the most of his opportunity of getting the ball into the back of the net.

The Buccaneers were forced to settle for a point as the fulltime whistle came, despite trying their best to restore their lead.

For Cape Town Spurs, it was another positive result for the team who are fighting against relegation.
