AmaZulu FC will lock horns with Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 8pm CAT (SA, GMT+2) - Live on SuperSport PSL (channel 202).
Usuthu are in a buoyant mood after claiming their first win of the season when they overcame SuperSport United 2-1 at home on Wednesday in their second game of the season.
The KwaZulu-Natal giants, who scored through Frank Mhango and Bonginkosi Ntuli against SuperSport, are currently placed third on the league standings having accumulated four points from their first two matches this term.
Brandon Truter, the AmaZulu head coach, praised his charges for showing character against SuperSport as they came from behind to secure a win over the three-time Premiership champions.
“Once we went down and conceded, we changed things and the formation. The front three that finished the game (Augustine Chidi Kwem, Mhango and Ntuli) are fighters and made it difficult for their defenders," Truter
"We also changed the formation to deal with their direct play and crosses. That is why we brought on a tall centre-back like Veluyeke Zulu because he could make things difficult for them.
"We managed to sneak a victory at the end. Our guys showed plenty of fight. I can’t fault anyone. This is a team that can fight as well. It was a tough ask to come back after conceding against a [Gavin] Hunt team."
Meanwhile, City are licking their wounds once again following a 3-2 defeat to Swallows FC away on Wednesday after starting the new campaign with a 2-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last week Friday.
The Citizens find themselves placed 15th on the DStv Premiership standings without a single point and it has created a little bit of early pressure on the club's head coach Eric Tinkler.
Tinkler reflected on their clash with Swallows and he made it clear that his side did not deserve to lose the game, but he urged his charges to accept the defeat and move on.
“We created the situations to get back into the game and we did. But to lose the way we did, with a penalty in the dying minutes and the decision to give the penalty creates this situation," Tinkler said.
“Those decisions cost more than three points - it costs morale, it costs confidence. Our job now is to accept this and move on.
“I feel for the boys. They didn’t deserve to lose the match. We started so well and dominated most of the match."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
AmaZulu
Frank Mhango: The quality attacker opened his scoring account for AmaZulu against SuperSport and he will be oozing with confidence when he faces City. Mhango will be confident of scoring once again and helping his side collect maximum points.
Bonginkosi Ntuli: The experienced centre forward came off the bench to score the winning goal against SuperSport and he seems to be forming a dangerous strike partnership with Mhango. The duo is likely to create problems for the City defence.
Cape Town City
Khanyisa Mayo: The left-footed attacker has looked sharp since the start of the current season and he managed to grab a goal and an assist against Swallows. Mayo will be a threat to the AmaZulu with unpredictable movement.
Darwin Gonzalez: The Venezuelan attacker has adapted well to South African football having produced a Man of the Match performance against Swallows and he will be hoping to carry that form into the clash with AmaZulu and inspire his side to a win.
