Cape Town City and AmaZulu will be hoping to put a halt to their respective ducks in the DStv Premiership when they lock horns at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kick off is at 3pm CAT.

CURRENT FORM

Cape Town City’s last three games have seen a dip in form from the outfit and they have not won their last five games in the league.

The team has drawn matches against Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United in their most recent games respectively.

They were also beaten 2-0 by Royal AM in the early stages of March.

AmaZulu is also facing a five game winless streak in the league and their last victory was in December, where they beat Thwili Twala 3-0 at home.

For the KZN team, a win against City would be crucial as they are seemingly flirting with danger at the bottom half of the table.

WHAT WAS SAID

The second half of the season has been disappointing by Cape Town City’s standards and head coach Eric Tinkler expressed that the younger players brought in are still finding their way.

“By our circumstances, we haven’t started well in the second half of the season,” he admitted.

Despite going on a run of games without wins, the team has picked up a few points so Tinkler noted that those are still important.

AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin is aware that the team has not been at their best lately but is backing his charges to turn things around in their next fixture.

“These are moments that happen sometimes. Our job is to try and go back to the normal situation. I think we have the capacity and the mentality,” he said.

“It’s on us — we need to keep pushing and try to get ready for the next one against Cape Town City. If we perform well there, I think everything is going to be on track.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Khanyisa Mayo, Cape Town City - The forward is well in the race for the PSL Golden Boot and is just one goal short of equalling Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro’s current tally of 10. A good display from Mayo will be crucial for the team to get on the scoresheet.

George Maluleka, AmaZulu - The veteran midfielder has featured in Usuthu’s last few matches and has shown some moments of brilliance in the middle of the park, given his experience. If on form, he could pose a real threat to the Blue and Gold Army’s backline.
