Bongani Zungu, who returns to Sundowns for the second time, was announced in front of a sold-out affair between the defending champs and Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Stadium in Tshwane on Saturday.
Club chairman Thlopie Motsepe made the announcement just before kick-off to a welcoming roar from thousands of Masandawana fans.
Zungu rejoins the Brazilians after stints in France, Portugal and Scotland. He has turned out for the likes of Rangers in the Scottish League, Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese first division and Amiens SC in the French Ligue 1.
The 29 year old midfielder made 68 appearances for Sundowns before his move abroad, managing two goals and seven assists in a successful period that included a Telkom Knockout medal and two league titles.

The club is yet to give details of the midfielder’s deal.
Zungu was given a taste of what to expect upon his return with his new teammates beating Amakhosi 4-0.
A Peter Shalulile brace and goals from Gaston Sirino and Abubeker Nasir sealed all three points for the Brazilians.
