Stellenbosch FC will have to come back down to earth quickly after sealing their place in a first ever cup final in the Carling Knockout as they host provincial rivals Cape Town City on Friday with another piece of club history there for the taking.

In-form Stellenbosch booked their place in the Carling Knockout decider with a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Richards Bay in their semifinal. They will meet TS Galaxy for the trophy at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on December 16.

But before then they have a home meeting with another side on the up in City, who have won a club record six DStv Premiership matches in a row.
It is, in many ways, the meeting between the two form teams in the league, notwithstanding Mamelodi Sundowns' 100 per cent start to the campaign.
Stellies have taken 13 points from the last 15 available, matching a run they had in the league between January and March this year.
That ironically started with a 3-2 home win over City where they came from two goals down to snatch victory.
But Steve Barker’s side have never taken 16 points from 18, so were they to be victorious at the Danie Craven Stadium on Friday, it would be their best run over six games.
Victory would also see them climb to third in the table, ahead of SuperSport United, and within two points of second-placed City.
Stellies have had the better of meetings with City in the recent past, they have won four of the last five, with the other game drawn.
