Golden Arrows recorded their third consecutive stalemate in the DStv Premiership this week, as Ryan Moon rescued his side from defeat in a 1-1 draw with Cape Town Spurs at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs, who are already relegated from the DStv Premiership, took the lead in the 32nd minute via an effort by Therlo Moosa. However, Moon Neutralised Moosa’s goal five minutes from time with a well-taken goal inside the Urban Warriors’ box.

Following a swift start to the game, Spurs looked bright during the first 10 minutes as Arrows struggled under the early pressure set by the Urban Warriors. The likes of Katlego Maphathe and Rushwin Dortley made their presence felt with a couple of goal-scoring chances created during this period.

Abafana Bes’thende edged the Cape Town outfit to the ball possession count but did little to threaten Neil Boshoff in goal as the Urban Warriors countered Arrows' slick passing moves with aggressive defending.

Spurs then took the lead moments after the half-hour mark, as Asenele Velebayi picked out Moosa inside the 18-yard area while the striker made no mistake with a left-footed shot from the centre of the goal.

Arrows attempted to regain control of the game as Spurs grew in confidence after scoring the opener. Nevertheless, the referee called time on the first 45 with Moosa’s effort separating the two sides at the break.

The Urban Warriors began seeing more of the ball during the opening exchanges of the second half while Arrows were reduced to playing most of their game inside their own half.

Ernst Middendorp’s side continued to dominate play toward the closing stages of the match, however, Abafana Bes’thende managed to level matters in the 84th minute following a rare attacking move inside the Spurs area.

Picked out by Brandon Theron with a telling cross from the right-hand side of the pitch, Ryan Moon showcased his experience with a classy right-footed finish inside the box.

Nevertheless, Moon’s effort proved to be the last notable action during the closing stages of the game as the Urban Warriors and Abafana Bes’thende shared the spoils in a tense 1-1 draw in Mpumalanga.
