Richards Bay will square off with their provincial rivals AmaZulu FC in a DStv Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 3:30 pm CAT.
The Natal Rich Boys are now undefeated in their last two matches in the league having drawn 1-1 with SuperSport United away last weekend after conceding late through Harold Majadibodu's own-goal.
The draw saw the KwaZulu-Natal side consolidate their spot on second place on the DStv Premiership standings - two points above third-placed SuperSport United and 19 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Vasili Manousakis, the Richards Bay co-head coach, revealed the secret to their dream debut season in the local top-flight following their encounter against SuperSport.
“Obviously a good start helps everything because if it wasn't a good start, then you know, it becomes a little bit challenging," Manousakis said.
“And then there are a whole lot of heroes in this team, all of them, but there are some gems that have been uncovered.
"So, I think it's coming together nicely from a group of players that are willing and able to put in the work that makes the big difference."
Meanwhile, AmaZulu are also unbeaten in their last two matches in the DStv Premiership having fought back to hold Marumo Gallants to a 1-1 draw last weekend thanks to Sere Junior Dion's goal.
Usuthu find themselves placed eighth on the league standings - three points behind fourth-placed Orlando Pirates and a victory over Richards Bay would see the Durban side cement their spot in the top eight.
Romain Folz, the AmaZulu head coach, was left to rue their missed chances against Gallants and he feels that they will win matches once they improve in front of goal.
"The opponents scored first, I think we could have done better to prevent them from scoring. I still have to see exactly what happened there," Folz said.
"The way we reacted after the goal was good, we were able to put pressure on them and we were able to fight back. I think the penalty came from our mistake but we were lucky because they didn't score.
"We wasted a lot of chances in front of goal, there are three or four that I have to look at again. I need to see exactly what happened. If we can correct those mistakes, we will be able to win a game like this one."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Richards Bay
Tshepo Mabua: The goalscoring defender was presented with a chance to score his third goal of the season against SuperSport, but he was denied from the penalty spot. Mabua will be eager to make amends when he faces AmaZulu who lost 1-0 to Richards Bay in the first round clash.
Sanele Barnes: The speedy attacker is now the Natal Rich Boys' joint-top scorer with three goals after scoring against SuperSport and he is also the team's most creative player with two assists. Barnes could be the player to propel Richards Bay to a victory over Usuthu.
AmaZulu:
Makhehleni Makhaula: The AmaZulu captain will have to step up with his midfield partner George Maluleka unavailable due to a one-match suspension. Makhaula's experience, organisational and leadership skills might be key to an AmaZulu win over the Natal Rich Boys.
Sere Junior Dion: The 29-year-old frontman is in good form at the moment having scored in each of his last two matches for Usuthu against Kaizer Chiefs and Gallants. Dion will be confident of making it three goals in as many matches when he faces Richards Bay.
