Cape Town City have confirmed the departure of five players following the completion of the 2023-24 Premier Soccer League season, including a return to Mamelodi Sundowns for loanee Thabiso Kutumela.

The 30-year-old scored three goals in 28 appearances (18 starts) across all competitions for City, a disappointing figure in a side that generally struggled to find the back of the net.

The same can be said for Angolan forward Jo Paciencia, who netted only twice in 24 appearances (8 starts) and generally failed to live up to expectations.

Midfielder Relebogile Mokhuoane, 29, will also leave the club after three seasons in which he made 58 appearances (26 starts) since his arrival from Free State Stars in the 2021-22 campaign.

Former Leicester City junior Khanya Leshabela had a brief stay in the Mother City as he failed to extend his contract beyond the six months, making nine appearances (three starts).

Finally, goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle leaves after three seasons and just two appearances, his last this past season when he featured against AmaZulu in a 3-2 loss in Durban. City led 2-1 in the 91st minute of this game.
