Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership when they host Sekhukhune United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.

CURRENT FORM

Amakhosi extended their winless run to four matches across all competitions when they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in an MTN8 encounter played over the weekend.

Chiefs are placed eighth on the DStv Premiership standings - two points behind fourth-placed Moroka Swallows and the Glamour Boys will be looking to cement their spot in the top eight with a win over Sekhukhune.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune stretched their unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions when they claimed a 1-0 win over Royal AM in a league game played on 20 September.

Babina Noko are currently occupying the fifth spot on the DStv Premiership standings - three points behind third-placed SuperSport United and a win over Chiefs will elevate Sekhukhune into the top four.

TEAM NEWS

Chiefs vice-captain Keagan Dolly continues to work on his match fitness after making his return from a long-term injury and coach Molefi Ntseki's side has no suspension concerns.

Sekhukhune, on the other hand, will be without their captain Linda Mntambo who is still recovering after undergoing surgery and the Limpopo side also has no suspension worries.

WHAT WAS SAID?

Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley du Preez

“Sekhukhune are a tough team, they are physical and they can also play. But from our side, coming off a setback, we can go into this game to get rid of our frustrations," Du Preez said.

"We must go out there and get the three points, and I will be determined to convert any chances that come my way. I think this is a game where we can show our will to win, our resilience, and the hunger in the mentality of every player, and do the job.

“If we win our individual battles, we’ll get the points so I am more focused on what we must do than on them,” he concludes.

Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter

“For us or any other team that plays Chiefs, the motivation is in itself there for the players. Yes, we will prepare, but I think that’s one for the players," Truter said.

“I can’t remember Chiefs beating me at FNB Stadium and also our record in KwaZulu-Natal. They looked at that and decided to bring it here [in Durban].

“But we won, so we will be seeing them in Durban.”

Kaizer Chiefs: PLAYERS TO WATCH

Christian Saile: The left-footed attacker caught the eye as an impact player coming from the bench against Sundowns and he came close to grabbing an assist and goal.

Saile could play the same role against Sekhukhune and the DR Congolese speedster will be eager to make an impact, and help Chiefs return to winning ways.

Ashley du Preez: The pacey attacker grabbed his third goal of the season when he hit the back of the net against Sundowns giving the Soweto giants hope on the day.

The last time Du Preez was on the score sheet in the league - Amakhosi defeated Cape Town City last month and he will be hoping to inspire his side to another league victory.

Sekhukhune United: PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jamie Webber: The 25-year-old has transformed into a goalscoring central midfielder at Truter this season having netted in two of his last three games across all competitions.

Webber, who was named Man of the Match after Sekhukhune's game against Sundowns last month, will be eager to play a key role in helping Babina Noko secure a win in Durban.

Chibuike Ohizu: The Nigerian marksman has enjoyed a good start to the current campaign having found the back of the net four times in his last seven competitive matches.

Ohizu is lethal in the opposition's box which has seen him score three league goals this term and he will be determined to add to his tally when he faces a struggling Chiefs side.
