Bottom of the log Baroka FC will host SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon, as they look to claw their way out of the relegation zone.
Kick-off is at 3pm CAT.
A win will be of high importance for coach Vincent Kobola and his side, as they currently sit at the bottom of the log with 22 points. Swallows occupy the relegation playoff zone just ahead of Baroka with 24 points, while TS Galaxy remain in 14th with 26 points.
Baroka dropped two crucial points in their previous league tie, when they walked away with just a point against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.
After the match, Kobola spoke about the need to win their remaining league fixtures, while praising his player’s character.
“For us to survive this we need to win these last two games,” Kobola said.
"Also, credit to the players, they really put in an effort, they really showed they want to fight for this, they showed character."
For Matsatsantsa, coach Andre Arendse will be hoping his side can finish in the lucrative top eight spot.
SuperSport United are currently eighth on the log, three points behind Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu, who occupy sixth and seventh respectively.
SSU are on a run of three consecutive draws, however, the club will no doubt take solace in the fact that they have beaten Baroka this season following their 2-0 home win in October 2021.
After their 2-2 draw against Swallows in their most recent league encounter, Arendse praised his side’s hard work.
“If I take the scoreline away, we looked solid enough defensively, we worked our socks off,” Arendse said.
“We let them in on one of two occasions and of course we were undone by the penalty.
“Its very difficult for me to ask anymore than what the players gave.”
“That’s very pleasing and that’s something to be proud of and we’ll take it from here.”
BAROKA: PLAYERS TO WATCH
Decide Chauke: As an inspired substitute in their match against Chippa, Chauke provided Baroka with an attacking spark and managed to get his name on the scoresheet. The midfielder looked lively and will no doubt be a source of inspiration for his side.
Dan Ndlovu: The winger was another player who made an instant impact upon being called upon as a substitute against the Chilli Boys. While his goal in the 84th minute may not have been enough to get the three points, Baroka know they have a weapon in Ndlovu.
SUPERSPORT UNITED: PLAYERS TO WATCH
Thamsanqa Gabuza: The lanky forward has been a crucial component to the SSU attack in the 21/22 campaign and is currently the club’s top scorer in the league (7).
Gamphani Lungu: Alongside Gabuza, Lungu is the next top goal contributor for the club this season (6). Lungu also scored a brace against Baroka earlier this season in the home leg fixture.
