AmaZulu hope to have both Abubakar Mobara and Rowen Human back for Tuesday’s DStv Premiership clash away at champions Mamelodi Sundowns, after both were among several players who suffered an mysterious eye infection last week and missed their Nedbank Cup win over Royal AM.

They had a swelling in the eye which club officials suspect they picked up in a swimming pool in Cape Town where they were earlier this month for their league loss to Cape Town Spurs.

Doctors felt it was contiguous and the players kept away from the camp but are now expected be back for the clash at Loftus Versfeld.

“Mobara tried his best to be available for the game against Royal AM but between the technical team and the medical staff, it was decided that for him and for the rest of the team, because those diseases are continuous, the best was to keep him out,” said coach Pablo Franco

“He's a key player for us,” the coach added. Human last featured for AmaZulu as a substitute in their last game of last year.

AmaZulu go into the clash with confidence after edging Royal AM in the cup last Thursday but sit in 10th spot. Sundowns enjoy a nine point lead at the top of the table plus have two games in hand on their nearest challengers.
