SuperSport United will host an in-form Kaizer Chiefs outfit in the DStv Premiership this week, with the two PSL giants set to do battle at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm (SA, GMT+2)
Returning to DStv Premiership action this week, SuperSport recently recorded a 1-1 draw against Gaborone United in a first-leg CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie.
Prior to their commitments in Africa, SuperSport suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership, as Abafana Bes’thende continued their spirited start to the 2023/24 season.
As Matsatsanta look to get back to winning ways, coach Gavin Hunt’s side currently sit in third place on the DStv Premiership log and accumulated 10 points after five matches played.
Speaking ahead of the tie, SuperSport star Keenan Bezuidenhout mentioned that Hunt will know what to do in preparation for the tie, given his experience as a former Amakhosi mentor.
“Obviously Chiefs, we all know, are a big team,” Bezuidenhout said.
“However, I think coach Gavin will know what to do, he understands Chiefs pretty well. So, we just need to listen to him and stick to whatever he says is a plan.”

'BURY OUR CHANCES'
In contrast to that of SuperSport, Chiefs find themselves in a decent run of form after a slow start to the league season.
The Glamour Boys are now unbeaten in their last three DStv Premiership ties, with their form sheet consisting of back-to-back wins against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch respectively.
Chiefs go into their next game on the back of a 0-0 draw against Royal AM and occupy sixth place on the table after six fixtures to their name.
Reflecting on the upcoming game, versatile defender Zitha Kwinika expects the Tshwane side to put up a battle and mentioned the need to bury chances against Hunt’s ‘organised’ team.
“Playing against SuperSport United is a battle,” Kwinika said.
“They are often not pretty games. You can see their form so we know it’s going to be difficult. They are experienced and well organised, so we are preparing for that. As a team, we are gaining momentum and are looking to keep it going in the right direction.
“We were disappointed to only draw against Royal AM but Lady Luck wasn’t on our side. Against SuperSport we are going to have to bury our chances to get a good result.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
SuperSport United:
Grant Margeman: The combative midfielder has been an ever-present feature for Hunt yet again this season and will no doubt assume an important role against Chiefs in the middle of the park on Wednesday night.
Kaizer Chiefs:
Edson Castillo: The Venezuelan man has been a revelation for Chiefs this season and settled well into PSL football. Not only does the South American make the Glamour Boys tick in midfield, Castillo has shown that he has the temperament to score important goals for his team.
