Babina Noko's woes continued as they stretched their winless run to six matches across all competitions when they lost 1-0 to Royal AM away on Tuesday.
The Limpopo side is currently placed eighth on the league standings - two points behind sixth-placed AmaZulu FC and they will be keen to cement their spot in the top-half with a win over Baroka.
MacDonald Makhubedu, the Sekhukhune head coach, was pleased with his side's display despite their defeat to Royal AM and he is optimistic about their chances of defeating Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele.
“I am happy about the performance I want to lose like this unlike last week [when we lost to Platinum City Rovers in the Nedbank Cup]," Makhubedu said.
"I will take this defeat. We played well, we were just unlucky. We could have scored five. We played well, I will take this first [league] game of the year.
"And I will take this performance to build on this one for the next game. If they can give half of this performance in the next game I am sure we will get the three points."
Meanwhile, Baroka's resurgence continued as they extended their unbeaten run to three matches across all competitions when they drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in a league clash away on Monday.
Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele are currently placed 15th on the standings - two points behind 13th-placed Chippa United and they will be desperate for a win that would see them climb out of the relegation zone.
Kgoloko Thobejane, the Baroka head coach, feels that finishing remains a big problem for his side, but he was happy to walk away with a point after their clash with league defending champions.
"We miss it [penalty], we have to give them [the players] the motivation to say, 'Let's go on boys, we can make it'. Second-half they caught us very early but you know what," Thobejane said.
"If the referee is still saying play on and on we were hoping we can score, at the end we got it. With one point [It's better than nothing] because the position is not good.
"At home, we need to declare it a slaughterhouse but there's only one challenge in football, that's the one killing us, finishing! Finishing! Finishing."
