Mikey Johnston scored twice as West Bromwich Albion came from behind to beat Huddersfield 4-1 in England's second-tier Championship on Sunday to strengthen their grip on a play-off place.

Only the top two clubs at the end of a regular season are guaranteed a place in the lucrative Premier League, with the other promoted team decided by a series of play-off games involving the sides finishing third to sixth.

Sunday's win away to West Brom manager Carlos Coberan's former club extend the Baggies' unbeaten run to five games and left them fifth in the table, five points clear of seventh-placed Hull.

It had looked like being an unhappy return to Huddersfield for Coberan, with the Baggies unable to register a single shot in a first half where Delano Burgzorg gave the Terriers the lead.

But Huddersefield, who have had five managers since Coberan left the Yorkshire club in July 2022, wilted under a second-half onslaught, with Johnston twice on target, Kyle Bartley scoring on his return and Okay Yokuslu letting fly with a powerful shot.

Defeat left Huddersfield in the bottom three, but with the Yorkshire club only one point behind relegation rivals Birmingham and Queens Park Rangers.

In Sunday's other Championship match, Bristol City beat fellow mid-table side Swansea 1-0 thanks to defender Rob Dickie's header 17 minutes from time.
