Mujib Kassim drives Hawassa's title dreams

Mujib Kassim has been the highest Common denominator in the last two title campaigns for Fasil City, winning one in 2020/21 and finishing second in 2021/22 . He now sets his sight on a hat-trick of title charges this time with Hawassa City.

Mujib signed for Hawassa on a two years contract after returning to Fasil midway through the last season following his high profile move to Algeria.

He failed to get on the scoresheet for Hawassa in their 0-1 loss to Mekelakeya, the Defence Force on his debut but he is supremely confident they will challenge for honours.

"Now, I have come to Hawassa Kenema. I am working with my new club to do better. Our plan now is to compete for the trophy.

"I think we will do something good with this. Most of us are new players. It takes time to integrate. But I will work hard with my friends to make the team successful in a short time."

Kassim has worked with some of the most experienced and successful Managers in Ethiopia but he picks his first manager, Tarekegn Assets as the biggest influence on his career. Coach Tarekegn Assefa is now in USA.

"He was a coach at Sidama Coffee earlier in my stint with them. He is the one who helped me change a lot in my early beginnings. I want to thank him very much on this occasion."

Mujib has not given up his dreams of to playing in other international leagues outside Ethiopia on top performance.

" When I returned from Algeria, there were other opportunities. I came back here because certain things weren't good, but I'll still going out and play at a higher level, that's why I'm working hard.

"We have the desire and to do that you have to work hard and I think I will achieve it, with Allah's willing."

He has also set his sights on the top scorers award for the 2022/23 Betking Ethiopia Premier League.

" I have a plan of my own. but if the team is better organised, I think it will be good and we will work hard in training to bring that. Insha Allah I think I will have something good."

"Hawassa Kenema is not new to me. I am playing for the second time. It has many fans and also a historical club.

'It is a club that has won the league and I want to say that we will do good things with my friends that are there."
