High flying Ethiopian Insurance suffered a 0-1 defeat to Mekelakeya and Wolkite City earned a rare 1-0 win over Shashemene City in their respective week 6 fixtures.
Both games played at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium in Adama provided some of the most unexpected results.
Ethiopian Insurance finished third last season and have been expected to mount a serious challenge for the title this season.
However, Mekelakeya scored in the 14th minute through Abel Negash and somehow managed to hold on to the lead for the rest of the game.
Mekelakeya have now moved up to 2nd on the log behind Leaders, St George.
Wolkite City finally got their first win of the season against fellow strugglers, Shashemene City.
The lone goal was scored by Gadisa Mebrate on 33 minutes and it was a win that was celebrated as though they had just won the League.
The win takes Wolkite up to 12th on the log and out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.
