Kebede at the double as Wolkite stun Ethiopian Insurance
Wolkite City caused a huge upset Monday with a stunning 2-0 win over previously high-flying Ethiopian Insurance
The result puts a dent in Ethiopian Insurance's title aspirations as it means they will need to win all their remaining four games and hope that St George suddenly lose all their remaining five games.
The key for Wolkite City was, as expected, the incredible form of Captain Fantastic.
Getaneh Kebede just can't stop scoring. The legendary Ethiopia international striker and former record goalscorer has now racked up 18 goals and is chasing down Ismail Ouro-Agoro.
St George's Togolese Striker has 22 goals and is currently leading the race for the golden boot.
Ethiopian Insurance and Wolkite played out a goalless start to the game, but the Kebede show took over.
Kebede opened his account in the second minute of added time at the end of the first half when he converted a penalty for 1-0 to Wolkite going into the break.
Kebede completed his brace in the 69th minute proving once again that all good things come to Wolkite when he is on fire.
The win moves them once again above Arbaminch City and out of the relegation zone, a kind of Russian roulette between them.
Ethiopian Insurance remain in third place with 45 points, with Bahir Dar second, and are still 10 points behind league leaders St George, who are on 55 points.
