Ethiopia Coffee and Sidama Coffee greatly impacted the Ethiopia Premier League title race on Thursday when they beat leaders Mekelakeya and CBE respectively.

Ethiopia Coffee beat Mekelakeya 4-0, while Sidama Coffee came from behind to upset CBE 2-1 to open up the title race.

Abel Mamush gave CBE a 12th-minute lead that seemed to galvanise the Bankers into a false sense of redemption

However, former Fasil Kenema star Bezabh Meleyu equalised for Sidama just before halftime.

His 44th-minute goal ensured the teams went into the break tied at 1-1.

The second half was a fast and furious affair with both sides going for the jugular and it remained tied until fulltime, but Bezabh Meleyu still had one more strike up his sleeve.

Meleyu completed his brace in the third minute of added time to give Sidama a sensational 2-1 win.

Ethiopia Coffee, meanwhile, struck quite early with Mesfin Tafesse on target in the ninth minute to go 1-0 up.

Abdulkerim Worku doubled the advantage for Ethiopia Coffee at the half hour mark.

Coffee were soon 3-0 up just before the hour mark when Anteneh Tefera scored on 59 minutes while Mohammed Nur Nasir completed the rout in the 80th minute.

Ethiopia Coffee leapfrog St George into third place on the log with 25 points, four points behind CBE in second with 29.

Mekelakeya still lead with 30 points, while St George are now fourth with 24 points.
