Hadiya Hossana produced a masterclass as they shocked leaders Mekelakeya 3-2 in one of the most unlikely wins of the season.

Fasil Kenema beat Hawassa City 2-1 in the other fixture of week 16 at Dire Dawa.

It was a feast of goals for fans at the iconic stadium as they witnessed eight goals in all, sparked by an early Mekelakeya goal by Abel Negash.

Negash struck in the second minute to give the Defence Force a 1-0 lead but Melese Mishamo found the equaliser for Hadiya on 33 minutes to take the tie to half-time at 1-1.

The second half seemed to go in Mekelakeya's favour when Kenean Markneh converted a 60th-minute penalty to give Mekelakeya a 2-1 lead.

This was a shortlived lead as Girum Hagos gifted Hadiya an own goal to bring the tie level again at 2-2.

However, cometh the hour, cometh the man, asTemesgen Birhanu produced a late finish to win it 3-2 for Hadiya Hossana.

Fasil's 2-1 win over Hawassa was equally dramatic because they came from a goal down at half-time to win.

Tafesse Solomon had given Hawassa a 41st-minute lead and they held that until the 75th minute and looked to be running away with it.

However, Fasil fought back with a late rally as Amanuel Gebremichael equalised on 76 minutes.

Fasil's winner arrived in the 88th minute through Kalkidan Zelalem.
