Ethiopia Coffee beat St George in Sheger derby
Ethiopia Coffee put aside their poor showing so far this season to beat fierce rivals St George 1-0 in the Sheger derby.
It was singing and dancing in the sun for Coffee fans as they had something to cheer in the rescheduled derby.
Chala Teshita was on target with his third goal of the season as he provided the match-winning goal in the 52nd minute.
Bereket Amare was in goal for Ethiopia Coffee and the athletic keeper proved difficult to beat for St George.
The defeat, the second for St George this season, is a big blow to their title aspirations, especially with their rivals still ahead of them.
They missed a chance to go up to second place behind Leaders CBE, who are on 20 points.
A win for St George would have taken them to 19 points, the same as second-placed Mekelakeya but with a superior goal difference.
Ethiopia Coffee, on the other hand, moved up to the seventh position with 11 points, up from the 13th position before this game.
Coach Zerihun Shengeta has his work cut out if he is to get his "Horsemen" firing on all cylinders once again as they aim to improve on their present fourth position.
