St George look all but confirmed as BetKing Ethiopia Premier League Champions for 2022/23 season after Bahir Dar City failed to get a favourable result against Sidama Coffee.
Bahir Dar's title hopes are now hanging in the balance after losing 0-4 to Sidama Coffee Sunday even as League Leaders, St George drew 0-0 with Ethiopia Coffee in the sheger derby.
St George remains on top of the table with 60 points and a goal difference of +31 with Bahir Dar City in second place on 54 points and +19 goals difference
This means Bahir Dar City must win both remaining games and hope to score 12 goals and hope that St George lose both games with a high margin.
However, it was two exciting games as the Coffee teams, Sidama Coffee and Ethiopia Coffee impacted the title race.
Firew Solomon opened scoring for Sidama Coffee in the 19th minute against Bahir Dar City.
Philip Adjah doubled the advantage for Sidama in the 24th minute, a lead they took into the break as Bahir Dar City battled to keep their race
Sidama Coffee looked the livelier in the second half and the added benefit of having their veteran Striker Salahdin Seid back just seemed to ignite their fire.
Salahdin Seid made the scoreline 3-0 on 74 minutes as the wheels fell off for Bahir Dar City.
Bahir Dar City fought back in vain and their final capitulation occurred with 3 minutes of added time when Firew Solomon completed his brace for the 4th goal, 4-0 it ended for Sidama Coffee.
Elsewhere, St George and Ethiopia Coffee played out a goalless first half but lots of excitement for the colourful fans.
Ismail Ouro-Agoro with his 24th goal of the season gave St George the lead in the 66th minute.
Biruk Beyene equalized for Ethiopia Coffee in the 72nd minute to bring the scores to 1-1.
There are still two match days to go to determine the championship.
