Surafel Awol, Degu Debebe and Mulukun Addisu were among the most high-profile offenders sanctioned by the Betking Ethiopian Premier League after week 23 disciplinary decisions were announced.
During the week, 46 players and team leaders were reprimanded with yellow cards, while five players and team leaders saw red cards.
The Ethiopian Premier League Competition Leadership and Disciplinary Committee held a meeting on Saturday, 13 May , and after their investigations and reviews, they passed various decisions.
A total of seven players were fined for the decisions made by the players and team leaders. Surafel Awol (Legetafo LeGedadi), Degu Debebe (Wolaita Dicha) and Mulukun Addisu (Sidama Buna) were red carded and removed from the field of play for committing a second yellow-card foul.
All of them will be suspended for one game.
Abebe Tilahun (ArbaMinch City) and Matai Lul (Ethio Electric), who received yellow cards in five different games, will be suspended for one game and pay a fine of Birr 1 500.
Alleline Azene (Bahir Dar City), who was reported for wearing an image that conveys a religious message in his underwear during their game, has to pay a fine of Birr 3 000 and the club has to pay a fine of Birr 10 000.
Wuhab Adams from Wolkite City, who was reported for elbowing an opposing team player outside the referee's view during the week's game, was suspended for four games and ordered to pay Birr 3 000.
Various decisions have been made based on reports at the club level with Legetafo Legedadi being sanctioned for having more than four players of the club carded for various offences during the match week and, as a result, the club should pay a fine of Birr 5 000.
In the case of Wolaita Dicha, in the 22nd game of the week, a report was submitted about the club's fans insulting the referee of the day, and the club was ordered to pay Birr 50 000 for the offence committed by the club's fans.
Ethiopian Coffee were reported after the club's players broke two doors of Hawassa University's dressing room, and the club was ordered to fix the broken doors or pay the price of the property provided by the university administration.
In addition, the established technical committee is reviewing one of the football matches of the 23rd week between Ethiopian Insurance and Sidama Coffee.
Since the match is being investigated, the competition and discipline committee has decided that the result of the match will not be confirmed until the outcome of the committee's preliminary investigation is known and that the disciplinary decisions related to the game will be made after the results are known.
