Dagnachew, Mathios and others sanctioned

The Ethiopian Premier League disciplinary committee has approved the latest sanctions for Week 16 infractions and Fasil City's Surafel Dagnachew and Zelalem Mathios of Wolaita Dicha are among those players cited.

The eight games played produced six wins and two draws. A total of 48 players and team leaders were reprimanded with yellow cards, while two players and one team leader saw red cards.

The Ethiopian Premier League Competition Leadership and Disciplinary Committee held a meeting on Friday.

In accordance with the Ethiopian Football Federation's disciplinary guidelines and the Ethiopian Premier League's competition rules, based on the decisions made against the players and team leaders - Surafel Dagnachew (Fasil Kenema), who was accused of insulting the referee and seeing a red card and removed from the field of play, will have to pay a fine of 3 000 Birr.

Zelalem Mathios from Wolaita Dicha is the team leader of the club and was removed from the playing field against the referee's decision and will be suspended for one game in addition to paying a fine of 6 000 Birr.

Abnet Demsey of Ethio Electric was suspended for one game after committing a second yellow-card offence.

Kalu Genen (Hawassa City) was given a yellow-card warning in five different games. It was decided to suspend him and he was fined the sum of 1 500 Birr.

Ethio Electric, Saint George, Hawassa City and Fasil Kenema have also been fined because five or more players of their clubs received yellow cards.

Sidama Coffee, who changed four players who were registered with green Tessera ID cards in their game against Dire Dawa City, lost the game by forfeit after the original result (a 2-0 win for Dire Dawa) was cancelled.

Thus, Dire Dawa City were awarded three points and three additional goals, while Sidama walk away with zero points and three goals conceded.

The goal scorers registered on the day were cancelled, the disciplinary decisions made on the day were upheld and the team leader, Chombe Gebre, was suspended for six months and has to pay an additional fine of Birr 25 000.
