Mekelakeya face Fasil Kenema on Friday with the chance to narrow the gap to Ethiopia League leaders Ethiopia Nigd Bank who played to a 2-2 draw with Bahir Dar City on Thursday.

A win for Mekelakeya will cut the lead to three points but they know that the Week 27 clash with Fasil will not be a walk in the park.

Mekelakeya uncharacteristically drew with Shashemene City in their last game but, to their credit, they have not suffered any defeats in their last five matches.

They come into this game scoring more than two goals in consecutive games and will have to do more to break Fasil Kenema, one of the strongest defensive teams in the league.

Mekelakeya have been the third highest scorers in the league while Fasil Kenema boast the third strongest defensive combination in the league.

Fasil, on the other hand, head into Friday's encounter on the back of their defeat to league leaders Ethiopia Nigd Bank and will be aiming for their 11th win of the season.

In the second match of the day, St George take on Dire Dawa City.

The Horsemen went on a seven-game winless streak before finally beating Sidama Coffee 1-0 courtesy of Ammanuel Erbo in the last week before the international break.

St George are in fifth place on the log with 43 points and their opponents Dire Dawa Kenema are in 8th spot with 37 points.

Dire Dawa earlier beat Wolkite City 3-0.
