Ethiopian champions St George will start their title defence in the 2023/24 BetKing Ethiopia Premier League season against Wolkite City.
The league fixtures were revealed today at the headquarters of Ethiopian Premier League Share Company.
Wolkite City survived relegation in the final week of last season, and they couldn't have asked for worse luck with the draw against the strongest team in the land in the opening week.
Bahir Dar City, who finished as runners-up last season, will play against Ethiopia Insurance, who ended the season in third place. This match will be the opening fixture of the season.
The rest of the opening week fixtures include the following:
Sidama Coffee v Ethiopia Coffee
Hambericho Durame v Dire Dawa City
Shashmene City v Wollaita Dicha
Mechal v Hadiya Hosaena
Fasil Kenema v Hawassa City
Adama City v Ethiopia Commerical Bank
The 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League will start on 1 October 2023.
Humberico Durame, Ethiopia Commercial Bank and Shashmene City are the promoted teams featuring in the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League this season.
They replace the relegated teams: Arbaminch City, Legetafo Legedadi and Ethio Electric who dropped down ironically to the Higher League.
