Cape Town City began the season with a 2-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, they then suffered back-to-back away losses to Swallows FC (2-3) and AmaZulu (1-2).

Cape Town City have lost their opening three league games of a season for the first time ever.

Cape Town City have lost three games in a row in the same season for the second time and the first time since the 2017-18 season when they lost in February 2018, a total of four league games in a row to Mamelodi Sundowns (0-1), Kaizer Chiefs (0-1), Wits (1-2) and Baroka (0-2).

Should Cape Town City fail to win, it would be the first time they would not win four league games in a row in the same season since the 2020-21 campaign, when they failed to win four consecutive league games between April and May 2021 (D2 L2). This run included a 5-1 home loss to AmaZulu.

Mayo has scored in back-to-back top-flight league games for the second time in his career. He also scored in successive league games towards the end of last season against Baroka on 3 April and Maritzburg United on 6 April. Both games ended in wins for Cape Town City.
