Malawi women’s football team star Tabitha Chawinga has joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Féminines in France.

The former CAF Women Footballer of the Year nominee has confirmed her year-long loan transfer to the French giants from Wuhan Jiangda in China..

“It is now official. PSG Féminines is the new home,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

PSG have also released a statement announcing the capture of the 2023 Serie A Femminile’s top scorer with 23 goals.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce that Malawi international Tabitha Chawinga has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Wuhan Jianghan University until 30th June 2024. The capital club would like to wish Tabitha all the best with Les Rouge et Bleu,” a statement from PSG reads.

Chawinga made a name at DD Sunshine FC back home in Malawi before securing a move to Swedish outfit, Krokom/Dvärsätts IF in 2014.

She eventually moved to another Swedish club, Kvarnsvedens IK, a year later and scored 43 goals in the 2015-2016 campaign.

Eventually, the 26-year-old clinched a dream move to Chinese Super League giants Jiangsu Suning in 2018.

The Malawian proved to be a big hit at Suning by bagging the Chinese Women’s Super League’s Player of the Year award back-to-back in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Chawinga returned to Europe last season, this time around for a loan spell with Inter Milan.

The Malawian became the first African woman footballer to claim the Golden Boot Award in women football in Italy.
