The deadline has passed for World Cup squads to be submitted and all 32 national teams have finalized their 26-man rosters for the tournament, which will kick off on November 20 in Qatar.
LaLiga is second on the table of player representation at the World Cup with a total of 80 stars of the 832 players heading to the tournament from across 56 domestic leagues and over 300 different clubs.
World Cup hosts Qatar and Saudi Arabia are the only teams with all 26 players on their roster coming from their domestic league systems while Spain has a total of 18 players from LaLiga.
Unlike in the past World Cups where LaLiga players would dominate the Spain national team in this tournament there is a total of eight players playing abroad, five from the English Premier League, two from the French League and one from the Germany’s Bundesliga.
The LaLiga big three Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid feature in the top ten clubs with most players in the tournament. Barcelona lead the LaLiga table of players going to Qatar with 16 players tied with Qatari giants Al-Sadd and Manchester City in the overall .

Real Madrid will have 13 players at the World Cup, but only Marco Asensio and Dani Carvajal are in the Spanish squad. Notably, Madrid stars like Toni Kroos, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Nacho Fernandez, Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos and Alvaro Odriozola all missed out on selections.
Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid has 11 players going to the tournament and only three of those are in the Spain squad namely Marcos Llorente, Alvaro Morata and Koke. Morata has leading Spain’s attack since Luis Enrique’s return to the bench and with 27 goals in 57 appearances for his country, he is only two away from joining the top-five top scorers of all time for Spain.
