The World Sports Betting Western Province Men's team are gearing up for the resumption of the CSA 4-Day Series this week.

The Boys in Blue have been working hard at training and preparing to face the Momentum Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park.

The match will start at 10am on Thursday, 20 March, and will be live on the Cricket South Africa (CSA) YouTube page.

With key players being available for the selection, the team has been looking strong and motivated.

Captain Kyle Verreynne says the team is in high spirits ahead of their trip to the Capital.

“I think the team is in a good space. The last couple of days of training have gone really well, we're sitting in quite a nice position on the four-day log.

“Obviously still possible to make the final, so I think the guys are really focused on that,” said Verreynne.

“We got George [Linde] and Tony [de Zorzi] back now, which offer the team quite a bit of a boost, we really looking forward to the game against the Titans and hopefully the three games after that.”

SEEKING ANOTHER FINAL

Their last fixture in red-ball cricket against the Knights ended in a draw at World Sports Betting Newlands in December 2024.

Verreynne knows how much it will mean to the team to win all the remaining matches.

“Well, like I said, we can still make the final so obviously if we can get over the line in a few of these games and qualify for another final, that’ll be really important for us,” he said.

Salieg Nackerdien’s charges are currently sitting in 6th place on the log standings with 50.54 points and three matches left.

The team will travel without their left-arm spinner and the team’s leading wicket-taker Kyle Simmonds who suffered an injury in the One-Day Cup clash against Goldrush Boland two weeks ago.

Verreynne added that even though they will miss their key spinner in Simmonds, their eyes are still on the prize.

“We made the final last year and lost in the final to the Lions. So, it'll be nice to go one step further and get to the final and then win it,” he added.

“We’re sitting in quite nice positions in the four-day competition, anything is possible. Hopefully, we can finish it off on a high.”
