Sundowns fixtures for African Football League released
Mamelodi Sundowns will get their African Football League campaign underway in Luanda on October 21 but the participation of their quarterfinal opponents Petro Atletico is still under a cloud.
The fixtures for the month-long eight-team tournament have been released with Sundowns away in the first leg of the tie in Luanda.
But the organisers of the new super league had said Petro’s partcipation is under review.
The club were handed, earlier this month, a two-year suspension by the Angolan Football Federation for alleged corruption and whether they will be able to play remains to be seen
Sundowns are due to play at the Estadio 11 de Novembre on Saturday, October 21 and then host the return at Loftus Versfeld on October 24.
The AFL will kick off in Tanzania when Simba welcome Al Ahly of Egypt, the reigning continental champions. It will be preceded by an opening ceremony.
The new AFL is one of six competitions that Sundowns are participating in this season.
On Friday they play in Dar-es-Salaam against Burundian club Bumamuru in the first leg of their African Champions League second round tie
