Jonas Vingegaard took the overall lead in the Tour of Poland on Tuesday when he finished runner-up in the second stage, a 15.4km time trial.

Belgian Tim Wellens was fastest in the run from Myslakowice to Karpacz in 23 minutes and 59 seconds.

Vingegaard, second to Tadej Pogacar in the Tour de France in July, was nine seconds slower.

The Dane took the yellow jersey from another Belgian, Thibau Nys, who won the opening-day climb to Karpacz.

Vingegaard leads his Visma teammate Wilco Kelderman by 24 seconds.

Stage three on Wednesday is a hilly 156.5km ride from Walbrzych to Duszniki-Zdroj.
