The BetKing Ethiopia Premier League title race comes full circle Friday with the top contenders, St George and Bahir Dar City going head-to-head.
The week 26 matches will be held at Hawassa University with defending champions St George looking like they are on their way to back-to-back titles.
The Horsemen are on 55 points from 24 matches and in this round of games at Hawassa University Stadium, they have registered 3 different results, a loss to Mekelakeya , draw with Hawassa City and a win over Wolaitta Dicha.
Bahir Dar City are in their best season since they were promoted to Ethiopia Premier League many years ago, and currently amassed 50 points to keep them second on the log behind St George.
They were battling at relegation this time last year are now challenging to be champions.
The Tana Waves have skillfull and experienced players from back to front.
They have benefited from the infusion of the leadership of Yared Bayeh, plus Yabsera Tesfaye's (champion last year with Saint George) contributions, a confirmation of Bahir Dar's astute for transfer business.
They have been blessed by the outstanding performance of another sterling talent in their ensembe throughout the season, Alelegn Azene.
The defensive midfielder is shining like a thousand stars this season and he has flourished in defensive midfield role.
Azene previously played in an attacking midfield position under previous Coach, Abraham Mebratu but has thrived in his prefared defensive midfield role with Coach Degeareg Yigzaw at the helm and shown his outstanding capacity.
Bahir Dar failed to capitalise on the opportunity to reduce the points gap between them and St George last week when they lost 1-2 to Hadiya Hosanna.
They have another is chance once again to narrow the points gap. If they beat St George, it will be down to 2 points separating them from the Champions.
However, if they lose, then St George will open 8 points lead which might prove insurmountable with 4 games to go.
St George will be without possibly their two best players. The centre back Frimpong Mensah and left back Ramadan Yussouf due to suspension.
There is however good news for them as Megnot Debebe and Amanuel Gebremichael are back to training after their lengthy injuries.
There are no injury or suspension worries for Bahir Dar City as all their players are ready for this fixture.
There is one game to be played before this awaited fixture and that is the tie between Adama City and Legetafo Legedadi.
Legetafo Legedadi confirmed their relegation from the league last week. They have only won 2 matches and drawn 6 matches while losing every other game in the League this season.
Adama City will hopefully welcome back Dawa Hotessa who has been missed for long periods this season ahead of this fixture as they hope to improve on their 8th with 33 points.
