TS Galaxy's winless run in the Betway Premiership stretched to 13 games after they played out to a 1-1 draw with Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Vusumuzi Vilakazi's side went into the break a goal to the good after Azola Matrose broke the deadlock on 40 minutes, but their lead lasted just 13 minutes as Victor Letsoalo equalised from the spot to earn the Rockets a share of the spoils.
The point did neither team any good, with Galaxy remaining three points above the Chilli Boys in 12th position and now nine adrift of the MTN 8 places.
Bernard Parker was still searching for his first win since replacing Adnan Beganovic at the helm, having kicked off his tenure with a 2-1 defeat to Durban City in the Nedbank Cup final following by a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants in midweek.
Chippa looked to get back on the winning trail after suffering consecutive losses against AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United which left them just two points clear of the danger zone in 13th place.
The hosts were presented with a golden opportunity to opening the scoring on 12 minutes when Seluleko Mahlambi was fouled inside the box, but Junior Zindonga failed to convert the resulting penalty.
Zindonga had a chance to atone for his miss when he linked with Sedwyn George inside the area a few minutes later, only to miss the target.
The hosts went on to dominate proceedings in the first half, however, they fell behind against the run of play in the 40th minute as Matrose latched onto a loose ball and carried the ball a long way before finishing well.
Parker's side nearly found a swift response, although Dumisani Msibi was alert to the danger to smother Veluyeke Zulu's shot from point-blank range.
The Limpopo outfit took just three second-half minutes to hit back after they won another penalty, with Letsoalo stepping up this time and making no mistake from 12 yards out.
Zulu threatened to put them ahead midway through the second half after he steered a header over the crossbar from a corner, but Chippa held on to deny the Rockets a comeback win.
