Cape Town City have sold Brice Ambina to Norwegian club Valerenga, only six months after allowing him to join on loan.

Ambina went to Norway with Congolese centre back Nathan Fasika, but the latter's future is uncertain.

Valerenga, who are historically one of Norway’s top clubs, were surprisingly relegated at the end of last year and the two African players were brought in to boost their chances of immediate promotion.

The club are moving in the right direction and went top of the second division standings after an 8-0 home victory over Sandnes Ulf at the weekend.

The 22-year-old Ambina has missed only one game for Valerenga this season while Fasika has started only one game.

He spent more than one year out with a serious knee injury while at City.

Ambina has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Oslo-based club.

“Brice has been a top priority all along, and I am very happy that we were able to resolve negotiations and sign him. He has grown into the role in midfield, and complements the others in an exemplary way,” said Valerenga sporting director Joacim Jonsson.

“I am incredibly proud that I get the opportunity to give everything for this club. I felt at home from day one, and have been wonderfully well received,” added Ambina in a club statement,

“I want to thank my teammates and coaches for the trust they have shown in me, and not least our huge supporters. You guys are amazing, and I really look forward to playing in front of you for years to come.”
