As a key fixture in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this weekend, Casric Stars and Cape Town City will go toe-to-toe in their bid to claim top spot in South Africa’s first division during the latest matchday.
The two sides will shake hands at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Friday as serious contenders for the lucrative automatic promotion prize.
Casric Stars returned to the winning column in the Motsepe Foundation Championship recently, as they bagged a crucial 2-1 win over Venda Football Academy this past Tuesday.
The Mpumalanga side shrugged off a frustrating 0-0 draw against Midlands Wanderers prior to their game against Venda and currently occupy second on the log, just one point behind leaders Milford FC.
Casric are unbeaten in their last three matches and jotted down two wins, one draw and three losses in their previous five encounters.
As for City, the Western Cape outfit noted an emphatic 4-0 victory against the University of Pretoria last time out as they remained two points from the summit heading into Friday’s fixture. City are now unbeaten in their last seven ties, a run that includes five consecutive wins in the league.
Elsewhere, a bottom of the table clash awaits when Black Leopards take on Baroka on Sunday.
As it stands, Black Leopards sit at the bottom of the pile on 11 points after 15 games, while Baroka are in 15th place with 13 points to their name following 16 fixtures.
