Wolaitta Dicha, Dire Dawa City and a few other clubs and players received various levels of penalties for infractions in week 25.
The Ethiopian Premier League Competition Leadership and Disciplinary Committee held a meeting on Wednesday, 24 May, 2023, after examining the disciplinary report submitted by the referees and observers of the Ethiopian Premier League matches and making various decisions.
Following the review of Betking Ethiopian Premier League 25th week disciplinary actions, a total of 41 players and team leaders were reprimanded with a yellow card, while one player received a second yellow and red card.
Looking at the past week, four games were won and lost and the remaining four ended in draws. Twenty goals were scored by 17 players. The goal streak is 17 in game three penalty kicks.
A total of five players were fined for the decisions made by the players and team leaders. Yared Dawit (Wolaita Dicha) received a red card and was removed from the field of play for committing a second yellow-card offence.
Eric Kapaito (Arba Minch City), Frimpong Mensu (St. George), Ramadan Yesuf (St. George) and Yosef Yohannes (Dire Dawa City) have been given yellow cards in five different games and according to the disciplinary guidelines of the Ethiopian Football Federation, they have been suspended for one game and must pay a fine of 1 500 Birr.
The following sanctions were imposed on clubs. Dire Dawa City and Legetafo Legedadi were punished for infractions in their game of the week, as more than four players from the club were carded for various offences, accordingly, the clubs were fined 5 000 Birr.
During the game at Arba Minch City, there was a report about the fans of the club insulting the leaders of the their own club and the team in general. A report has been submitted and for the offence committed by the club's fans, the club has been fined 50 000 Birr.
Wolaita Dacha reported that the club's fans insulted the leaders of the match in the game against St. George, so the club was ordered to pay 75 000 Birr.
Furthermore, the club's fans were reported to have damaged a vehicle belonging to the Premier League Stock Association by throwing stones outside the stadium premises, and the club has been tasked with repairing the damaged vehicle or paying the price based on the owner's calculation.
