Hadiya Hossana put Sidama Coffee to the sword on Friday with a 4-1 bashing at Bahir Dar University Stadium, while Adama conjured a 2-0 win over Defence Force.

If this match was played two years ago, it would have been considered a 'normal' result for Hadiya with their twin strike force of Dawa Hotessa and Kalusha Alhassan. However, ever since those two strikers' departure the team's level has dropped considerably, so tonight's performance is laudable indeed.

They literally came from behind to produce the result after going behind as early as the 11th minute when Yakubu Mohammed put Sidama 1-0 up.

Hadiya equalised on the hour mark through Biruk Markos and six minutes later Fikereyesus Tewoldebirhan shot Hadiya into a 2-1 lead.

Tesgaye Birhanu made it 3-1 in the 88th minute and then Baye Gezahegn put the icing on the cake with the last kick of the game on 90 minutes to ensure a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

In the other game, former Hadiya Hossana striker Dawa Hotessa got on the scoresheet, albeit from the penalty spot.

Hotessa converted his kick in the 19th minute to give them a 1-0 lead over Mekelakeya, aka Defence Force.

The star-studded Defence battled through without success as Hadiya held them at bay.

Ame Mohammed then put the result beyond any doubt with a 90th-minute goal to secure a 2-0 victory for Adama.

It was Mohammed's second goal of the season after scoring in the team's 1-2 loss to Fasil.
